The March 2010 Main Kit went all the way to South Africa (isn’t that cool?) and landed in the hands of able crafter Sophia Allison. Here’s everything you’d ever want to know about Sophia! And then … some of the awesome things she created with the March 2010 Main Kit.
All about Sophia:
1. I started scrapbooking in October 2001, just before hubby and I got married that in November, so it came at just the right time of when we started our journey together.
2. My favorite scrapbooking product, tool or manufacturer is American Craft, purely because they have such a huge variety of products from cardstock, pattern paper to very exciting embellishments, and don’t forget the Thickers, a girl can never have too many you know.
3. My favorite thing to scrapbook about is my family, simply because we are always up to something or other and I love to document about it. I want to be able to have something that my girls can look back to when they are older.
4. I scrapbook because it is my way I can relax and loose myself. It is my “ME” time to just be creative. There is nothing better than music in the background, a glass of red wine and pure scrapping bliss with no interruptions…
5. I am the happiest when I am spending time with my family and just being us.
6. Crafting in my country of South Africa, has certainly grown more and more over the years. I find that most local South African scrappers love to create double pages, but most are also converting to single pages more and more. I for one, prefer my single pages as I can get a lot more down faster.
7. The hardest part of being a crafter in South Africa, would certainly be the fact that it is so hard to come by the new releases as soon as they are launched overseas at CHA. It takes a while to get here, and because they have to be imported here, it makes the cost of the product pricey. Most of the time a group of us order together from the US and share the postage, that way it works out much cheaper than local. Although I must say in the last few years, we have some locals that have started producing their own home-grown products. example Fab Scraps and Art from the Heart.
8. I’m most inspired by new product and pretty embellishments, like bling swirls etc.
9. If I could meet any crafter in the world it would be Elizabeth Kartchner. I think she is so funky and seems to be so down to earth. I love her style that she conveys on her projects, she likes to capture the mood in her photos and in such fun ways, she really makes scrapbooking look so easy, and because I can so relate to her with my 2 sweet girls.
10. What influence, if any, does the country which you are from have on your scrapping? Nothing really, as I scrap for myself as an individual. I do have a huge following on my blog that motivates me to be even more creative.
And a bonus question:
My favorite scrappy or crafty web site is Crazy Daisy Kits, is there any other…um no!

Thank you Sophia for sharing your talent with us! It’s so much fun to get to know other scrappers around the globe! Check back this weekend for hints on where the April 2010 Main Kit ended up. I’m going to make the clues harder this time!!
