Ho, ho, ho!

It’s the most fabulous time of the year! Or as my daughter says “the most lovingest time of the year.” December 2010 with Crazy Daisy is all about celebrating the most lovingest time of the year. December 2010 Mini Kit

1. Dentist time

I used the Jillibean Kraft paper as my background and layered some pattern papers over it. I love the Crate Paper border stickers and used up everything in the sheet in my projects this month. For this page, I also added the MME die cut journaling block and centered it along with my title. Since the kit was heavily themed for Fall layouts and I just so happen to NOT have any Fall layouts with me, I had to improvise a little to make the most of the products. I did this to show that you don’t have to use themed products for only the suggested theme/event/holiday it’s meant for. The title sticker said “It’s Pumpkin Time”, so to match my layout I added rubon letters to spell out dentist onto white cardstock and adhered it over the word pumpkin to complete my improvised layout.

I also fell inlove with the Making Memories butterflies. I used them here as my visual triangle elements. I broke some of the pearls from the Basic Grey pack and added some in the middle of the butterflies to create a finished look.

2. Happy to have you

I love this page. Not only because my son’s the star on it but because it gave me a lot of room to journal on which lately is hard for me to do. Anyways, I cut out the lined paper part of the circle paper and added the half circle on the bottom of the page. The big ricrac was also a nice addition to the page.

I love the MME block and decided to use that for my title. Because there’s an empty space in the title block, I added a layered butterfly plus some more of that Crate Paper border stickers, gosh I love those stuff!

I used some more butterflies here, again for a visual triangle element plus added a round M sticker from the JBS pack.

3. Park day

I’ve been digging the shaped papers in the kit. They provide the best frames for my layouts. I used one of them here. I layered more of the strips of paper here plus the Crate Paper border sticker.

I made my own flowers to add to the page. I handcut the circles from one of the papers and then added strips of green paper in the back, layered on top of each other. Secured with lots of glue and reinforced by threading the embroidery floss through the flowers and button.

To create the visual triangle, I used the blue embroidery floss as the element,adding it to the flowers and handstitching some lines for my journaling.

4. Peruvian dinner

This is my two page spread share for this month. I went with a smaller size but fit for the 5 photos I have of me and my family.

I used the loaded text paper from Imaginesce here to emphasize some of the words in my journaling. Since the paper was fall related and my page was not, I had to improvise some of my sentences to fit my words like “fall” and “bountiful”.

To balance the scallops from the border sticker I added scallops around the top and bottom part of my title block using 1/2″ circle punch.

Another layout using the shaped pattern paper as my page frame. Because my photos lacked enough color in them, I used a bright orange background to make the black and white photo stand out more.

Another page utilizing the Crate Paper borders and I even added some liquid pearl to the dots of the border for extra texture.

I added one of the Kaiser Craft envelopes here and I’m planning on storing some of our Vegas memorabilia in there.
I wanted the white letter stickers to stand out against the background so I opted on adhering it to the photo.

I’m in awe at how many unique albums we have out there now and how great Kimberly and Jennifer are at finding such fun albums. Well this leaf chipboard one from Kaiser Craft is no exception. It’s so darling. The only thing I have to say though was because there’s only three parts/sheets to it, there’s not enough room to actually put photos in. That’s why I added a couple of cardstock pieces in between the chipboard so I can have more room to “play” with.
   

The papers in the kit were perfect for this layout to make it a themed project. Because the papers were heavily designed for “fall”, anybody that takes a first glimpse of the cover will now for a fact that it is an autumn album. That was another reason why I opted not to have a formal cover/book title. 

In the inside I kept the design simple and made sure I have room to add my photos when I’m ready to. The Karen Foster stickers were the perfect embellishments too. I added most of them here with dimensional adhesive for some added touch of bulkiness to the book.

And the best part of it all, because I had everything I needed for this book included in the kit, I was able to make the album (start to finish) in a night. There’s nothing more enjoyable than that!

So for this month’s extra project, I went with something that might easily be used for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner…..place cards. We know we need them, especially when you have a big group for dinner and what better way to use up all the fun and perfectly themed products from the main kit!

I used white cardstock as my base and settled in with a basic, simple design. I had fun hadcutting the leaves and flowers from the WeRMemory Keepers paper and using them as my embellishments here. I used some small white letter stickers from my stash to make the names, but I’m sure you can easily use the stickers from the kit for this project. My suggestion would be to use it as a monogram instead since it’s pretty big sized letters.

The size of my place cards are 3″ squares but you can have yours smaller or bigger, whichever would work for you and your table setting.

I’m also thinking since the place cards were created to be a little notecard (so it can stand on top of the plate) I can use them later on as thank you notes to my guests.

So try it for this year’s gathering, you can even have your kids help you out with this. Let them write or stick the names of the guests. It’ll be fun!

Halloween Checklist Mini

This mini was inspired by one of the papers in the kit. It was the MME kraft paper that had fun things noted about Halloween. One part there was the Halloween checklist. I decided to cut them off and use that as the spring board for the mini.

Of course I used the wonderful Basic Grey mini. I covered the more part of it with pattern paper. I used the Pink Paislee paper for the front page because I loved the tree and tombstone designs on it. With that on my front page, I knew that I didn’t have to dress the cover too much just to emphasize the theme.

I added some orange glitter glue around the front and back covers and placed the title block on the cover.

For the inside pages, I visualized it to be simple and repetitive. I feel there’s nothing wrong with the inside pages being the same basic design. It actually brings all of the pages together.

This book will most likely be for this year’s Halloween’s activities so I left lots of spaces for pictures with precut white cardstock. These cardstock will also act as matting for my photos when I’m ready to print and add them to the book. It’ll save me time in the future.
I also sprinkled the JBS buttons in there. The acted as my one constant embellishment all through out the book.

And for the back (above), the Pink Paislee paper again and added a simple strip of paper to add my signature.

Though many of you may have children that aren’t quite in school yet, you can still put all of those beautiful school-themed chipboard elements and papers in September’s Main Kit to good use…by building a pre-made mini album for your child’s first year of school!

I put together this 1st Year of School album for my son Caleb, who is currently 2! Now some might call this a little over zealous, but I choose to call it “being prepared!” Something every parent longs to be, but rarely is…lol! So here is a peak at some of my pages and some ideas for creating your very own premade 1s Year if School Album for you little one!

Now every child’s school experience will be different, but here are a few ideas for generic pages to include before hand and then when the time is right you can tailor the album to your child’s specific school experience!

• A My School Page-perfect for a picture of your new academic in front of his school’s flagpole!
• An Introduction Page-Include your child’s name, school name,their grade and their teacher’s name.
• Projects Page- to chronicle your child’s assignments, creations, and projects.
• A Report Card/Grades-to keep track of grades or report cards.
• A Friends/Children at Play-perfect for pictures of friends or fun school photos.
• A Fieldtrips Page- to showcase some of the places your child visited in school.
• A Sports Page- pages for sports team photos and memorabilia.
• An Awards and Certificates Page-to showcase your child’s achievements

Note: The idea of creating a book BEFORE the event is super cool and takes some of the stress out of recording your memories. You could do this for Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas …. Amy used the September Main kit for this project, but you could use anything in your stash.

Card trio

I love, love, love the Crazy Daisy main kits. There’s enough products to give you a whole month’s worth of projects. Here’s what I made with my leftovers.

Yes, most of the items in these cards are leftovers from 5 layouts AND one album! You really can’t beat a kit like this!

For the cards, I used the MME journaling blocks as my main inspiration.
For the Sending Happy thoughts card (photo  below), I used the bike block. I think it’s soo cool and vintage. I kept the card simple as to not overpower that wonderful bike image. I also used the MME flocked diamond paper as background to add to the sophisticated look. The tape was used here too.

For the Only you card, I used a green background to make the rest of the neutral colors to pop. I added a purple ribbon (from my stash) to compliment the green.

For the Happy Halloween card, I used the bird MME block as my inspiration then added the Happy Halloween strip and Oct. 31 which was cut from a MME paper.

Hope this set inspired you to dig through those October main kits and make something today.
