Meet JJ Sobey! Here’s a little bit about JJ in her own words:

“Hi, my name is JJ, and I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. For those who didn’t do any better in geography than I did in school, I’m about one hour north of Plattsburgh, New York. My husband and I were married in 2001, in a costumed, Renaissance wedding (there’s my weird fact for the day). We have a sweet little four year old boy, and a brand new baby girl (born in August). My kids are the reason that I started scrapbooking. I resisted the hobby for many years, because I knew it would be addicting. No surprise – now I’m firmly hooked!

I’ve been crafting in one form or another since I was big enough to hold a crayon. Sewing was my biggest obsession, and I go back and forth to that still, as the muses strike, but it’s kind of taken a backseat to the scrapbooking. And I’m OK with that. I mostly scrap 12×12, but I dabble in other formats. My style would best be described as ‘eclectic’ – some days I like clean and simple, other days – not so much. Lately my style has been trending towards more distressed and grungy.

As you may have already realized, besides Scrapbooking – some of my other addictions are Starbucks, Sushi and Styx (classic rock). But not all at the same time – Peppermint Mocha and Spicy Scallops just don’t mix. (Styx is, of course, perfect with either.)”

More from JJ

1. I can’t imagine my life without … my children. And caffeine.  (some days in reverse order, LOL!)

2. My least favorite chore is … the dishes.  I despise the dishes.  The dishwasher is my friend.

3. I would love to win a shopping spree to … any great fabric store. ‘Cause if you thought scrappy supplies could add up, you haven’t shopped for fabric lately.  :)

4. My must have treat and music when scrapbooking is …sushi!!  OK, I obviously don’t get to have that every time I scrap, but take-out sushi is a pretty regular thing on crop nights with the gals.  Other than that, I don’t really snack and scrap at the same time.  As for music, I love classic rock, and lately I’m really into alternative rock, like System of a Down, Apocalyptica & Seether.

5. When scrapbooking, I love to use … INK!  I don’t think I can scrap a page without at least a little ink.  After that, I love flowers, pearls and buttons.

6. My favorite creative project is …scrapbooking layouts about everyday things with my kids.  The ‘events’ are fun too, but somehow, I get more satisfaction from the everyday things.  The stuff I’ll forget in 6 months if I don’t get it down on paper.  The cute things my 4-year-old says, the sweet expressions on my baby girl’s face.  Those sort of things.

7. I thought I would never … move to Montreal (or anywhere that the predominant language is not English).  But here I am!

8. My worst habit is … nail biting. Ugh.

9. If I were a superhero, my super-power would be … having eyes in the back of my head.  I can just sense when the pre-schooler is up to something…

10. You would never guess it, but I … used to dress up as a Klingon for Star Trek fan events.  Yes – really!  :)

Drum roll please …

It’s our pleasure to introduce you to Grace Tolman!

Here’s a little bit about Grace, in her own words:

My life in a nutshell: During the day I stay at home with my kids, a 5 year old son and an almost 3 year old daughter. Our days are filled with school, trips to the library, park days and sometimes when they’re good a trip to Burger Kingor McDonalds. At night I work part time as a Retail Associate at Aeropostale. A hip, fun clothing store that I constantly use as a great source of inspiration for my paper projects. I have a loving and very supportive husband of 6 years. He’s supported me all the way in this addiction I call ‘scrapbooking.’

Although I’ve been doing some type of scrapbooking since grade school, I only started to scrapbook seriously after my son was born. When he was born I knew I will be staying at home with him but coming from a fast paced sales job I was afraid I would ran out of things to do during the day. Little did I know that with a newborn you won’t have anytime to do anything else. Anyways after going through a basic scrapbooking class I was hooked and haven’t stopped scrapping since. I consider my style to be simple, linear and graphic but I’m not afraid to try new things. I love to tell the story behind each picture.”

1. I can’t imagine my life without …my family and papercrafting. Life without scrapbooking is just boring and life without family is unimaginable. What will I scrapbook if I didn’t have my family. *smile*

2. My least favorite chore is …cleaning the bathrooms. That’s why I’m glad that I don’t live in a big house. I have two bathrooms and I already dread every time I have to clean both.

3. I would love to win a shopping spree to … Scrapbook store and Target.  But then again I pretend I’m in a shopping spree when I go to those stores. I always end up spending way more than I’ve planned.

4. My must have treat and music when scrapbooking is … treat – none. I’m kinda clumsy so food and papers don’t really go well with me. Music- anything upbeat, lately it’s more toward pop and R&B music.

5. When scrapbooking, I love to use … my fiskars border punches and pop up dots. I love ‘em!!!

6. My favorite creative project is … mini albums. There’s a lot more room to add photos, journaling and products.

7. I thought I would never … go back to the work force.

8. My worst habit is … too much computer time. I spend waaayyyy too much time surfing the net.

9. If I were a superhero, my super-power would be … stopping time. Imagine the amount of things I can do while my kids are frozen in time. (just kidding)

10. You would never guess it, but I … thought I didn’t have any creative bone in my body when I started scrapbooking, 5 years ago. During my school years, my artwork would always be average. Nothing too fancy with them, that’s why I even surprised myself when I’ve realized that I CANbe creative.

Another lovely Grace creation!

To see more of Grace’s lovely creations, check back next week when our Crazy Daisy ladies show off some of what they’ve done with the June 2009 Main kit! You can also visit her blog.
