Using Up Extra Photos
By Mara Campbell
If you are anything like me, you take lots of photos. Seriously, tons and tons of photos!! I get mine developed online, so I have to spend some time deciding and figuring out what I want to get make into prints. It’s not always easy, so I usually end up with lots of extra prints that I don’t use. And I don’t like to waste photos! When I saw the cute little star mini album in the July kit, I knew exactly what I was going to use it for. It seems I always have extra photos of my kids doing sports. Soccer, softball, baseball, track…I always have too many prints. So I decided to make an All-Star mini to use up all those photos that didn’t make it onto layouts.
I covered the cover with patterned paper, used my star punch to create a place for my title, and did lots of inking. I also added some small letters for my title (not included in the kit).
I added a title page that will tell what this book is all about and the date ranges of the photos in the book. That way I can add photos without being stressed about journaling and keeping things in perfect order.
My kids love looking at sports photos of themselves in this little album. And it was the perfect spot for all those extras. So the next time you have extra photos lying around, consider making a mini album with them!!
Happy Scrapping Everyone!
Your kits are being packed up and are about to ship to you. While you are waiting for your kits, here’s a peak at some wonderful layouts from Mara Campbell to spark your creativity. These pages are such a great celebration of summer and family. They make me want to pack my kids in the car, head out on a road trip and enjoy all things summer. Mara, thank you for the fabulous pages!
What are you scrapbooking these days? Are you scrapping your summer photos? Show us what you’re scrapping!
We hope you’re having a great summer. Check back tomorrow for a great July giveaway.
It’s not even 10 am yet and I feel like it’s going to be “One of those days.” You know the kind that I mean. The ones where you clinch your teeth, possibly pull out your hair and have to try really hard not to scream. Cooper is cutting three of his molars right now and has been having trouble sleeping … and is just all around cranky. This morning Coop was up at 4 a.m. and wasn’t going back to sleep no matter what I did. What can you do?
To add to the chaos, we’re puppy sitting for my brother-in-law …. and this puppy is “mucho naughty” as my daughter said last night. It chews on everything, bites the kids, tackles the baby, poops in the house, wakes up and cries all night … and the list goes on!
I need a vacation! Jennifer is on vacation for a few weeks and I am super jealous! I’m looking forward to Fourth of July weekend when we’re meeting up with Jennifer and her family for some good summer fun.
Anyway, I should stop complaining. I have a good life. I am blessed. And I should focus on that and not the momentary craziness that is my life. Here are some awesome layouts from Mara Campbell using the June 2010 Main kit. Feast your eyes on this happy goodness … I love these layouts, they make me smile and think of sunshine.

Stretching Your Patterned Paper
If you are anything like me, you love paper. Just love it and can’t resist buying it…even though you might have enough already to last you the next 50 years. Whenever I look at patterned paper, I am always looking for ways to use it differently. And one of my favorite things to do it cut elements out of the patterns to use as embellishments. I know, it’s not a new idea, but you can really get alot of mileage out of your paper by using it for embellishments too!
For this layout, I cut the flowers from the GCD Studios paper in the May kit to use as embellishments inside my grid pattern. I also used one at the top of the layout to tie everything together.
I am drawn to papers with big bold patterns and fancy flourishes. It’s fun to cut those flourishes out and use them as embellies! I loved this Pink Paislee paper in the May kit, it was just begging to be cut out.
So the next time you are using patterned paper, try looking for elements you can cut out and use elsewhere on your projects! Happy Scrapping, everyone!!
Trendwatch: Banners!
By Mara Campbell
Have you noticed all the banners popping up all across the scrapbooking world? It’s banner mania! This cute embellishment is super easy to add to any project, even something as small as a card. All you need is some paper and a pair of scissors. Just free hand cut some triangles, all approximately the same size. Then string them across your layout or card.
I made this card using scraps from my April kit. Those tiny scraps you don’t want to throw away, yet don’t know what to do with are perfect for banner triangles. You can add little pearls or gems in between triangles or even add string or twine at the ends.
This cute embellishment is easy to customize to whatever size, style or color you want. Dust off some deco scissors and give your banner a cute edging. Mix and match patterned paper for a fun look. Once you try a banner, you might find yourself doing one on every page!!
Happy Scrapping everyone!
Everyone at my house is asleep right now. And hopefully they will stay asleep all night! While I have a few moments to myself, I wanted to share some March creations from our design team. Check out this cute layout from Katie. If I was 10 years younger, I’d want to be just like Katie! She is beyond cool and I love her style.
How about this fabulous mini book from Mara?
Check back tomorrow for a look at the mini book Grace created. I’ll also be posting some more layouts later in the week … also from Grace. There’s lots of crafty goodness going on right now!
March has been a crazy month. Our Main Kit is full of lots of yummy new goodies that were released at CHA … which means we’ve been waiting on all these goodies to arrive. Some of the papers didn’t arrive until last week, so our design team was late in getting their kits. However, these ladies don’t disappoint. As soon as they got their kits, they went to work and have created some awesome layouts with the March 2010 Main Kit.
Here’s a look at some of the layouts Mara created. Don’t you just love the little banners she used on the her pages?
Kits ship on Wednesday … so if you haven’t ordered yours yet, you still have time. Start shopping now!
Marvalous Mara. I think that’s what I’m going to call Mara Campbell from here on out! Mara is one of the new Crazy Daisy Design Team members and we are thrilled to have her. When she responded to our design team call, Jennifer texted me right away and told me to check out her blog. We were enamoured with her from very early on. We are super happy she agreed to join our team.
Here’s a little bit about Mara.
“Hi Everyone! I’m Mara and I’m very excited to be part of the Crazy Daisy team. I live in Southern California with my 2 active children and my homebrewing husband. I work full time as a molecular biologist for a biotechnology company by day and I love to scrap and get crafty at night. I’ve been scrapping for over 15 years and I love the creative outlet. Give me some patterned paper, paint, chipboard, and buttons and I’m a happy girl! I am also very interested in photography and have slowly been trying to develop my photography skills. I love being outside, working out, camping, hiking, running, and chasing my family around with my camera. I also enjoy being in the kitchen, baking, eating and trying new recipes.”

To say this was a hard decision would be an understatement. Jennifer and I agonized over this decision. We have been beyond excited by the response to our design team call and feel just so blessed. All of you ladies who applied are ultra talented and we’d be lucky to have you on our team. But. Here’s the tough and sad part. We did have to narrow the entries to pick just six ladies to join our 2010 Design Team.
We are excited to announce that the following ladies will be our wonderful design team starting with our March 2o10 kit (in no particular order):
