I’m in awe at how many unique albums we have out there now and how great Kimberly and Jennifer are at finding such fun albums. Well this leaf chipboard one from Kaiser Craft is no exception. It’s so darling. The only thing I have to say though was because there’s only three parts/sheets to it, there’s not enough room to actually put photos in. That’s why I added a couple of cardstock pieces in between the chipboard so I can have more room to “play” with.
   

The papers in the kit were perfect for this layout to make it a themed project. Because the papers were heavily designed for “fall”, anybody that takes a first glimpse of the cover will now for a fact that it is an autumn album. That was another reason why I opted not to have a formal cover/book title. 

In the inside I kept the design simple and made sure I have room to add my photos when I’m ready to. The Karen Foster stickers were the perfect embellishments too. I added most of them here with dimensional adhesive for some added touch of bulkiness to the book.

And the best part of it all, because I had everything I needed for this book included in the kit, I was able to make the album (start to finish) in a night. There’s nothing more enjoyable than that!

   
Though many of you may have children that aren’t quite in school yet, you can still put all of those beautiful school-themed chipboard elements and papers in September’s Main Kit to good use…by building a pre-made mini album for your child’s first year of school!

I put together this 1st Year of School album for my son Caleb, who is currently 2! Now some might call this a little over zealous, but I choose to call it “being prepared!” Something every parent longs to be, but rarely is…lol! So here is a peak at some of my pages and some ideas for creating your very own premade 1s Year if School Album for you little one!

Now every child’s school experience will be different, but here are a few ideas for generic pages to include before hand and then when the time is right you can tailor the album to your child’s specific school experience!

• A My School Page-perfect for a picture of your new academic in front of his school’s flagpole!
• An Introduction Page-Include your child’s name, school name,their grade and their teacher’s name.
• Projects Page- to chronicle your child’s assignments, creations, and projects.
• A Report Card/Grades-to keep track of grades or report cards.
• A Friends/Children at Play-perfect for pictures of friends or fun school photos.
• A Fieldtrips Page- to showcase some of the places your child visited in school.
• A Sports Page- pages for sports team photos and memorabilia.
• An Awards and Certificates Page-to showcase your child’s achievements

Note: The idea of creating a book BEFORE the event is super cool and takes some of the stress out of recording your memories. You could do this for Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas …. Amy used the September Main kit for this project, but you could use anything in your stash.

And even with my daughter,  I might have gone a little overboard these last 6 years with the pink. Layouts featuring my daughter could use a little diversity … maybe a red or blue … or even some brown!

Why do I ramble about this? I wanted to tell you all little bit about the August Mini Kit and why I love it. It’s all boy. But for my dirt loving, tree climbing daughter … it will work as well.

Souvenirs Envelope

The cute clear envelopes that the Kaiser stickers and die cuts came in was not going to be passed up without getting altered.

In the kit, I got a sheet that had a packing list on it and I liked the pictures of the transportation symbols. I loved it and the idea of a souvenir envelope came to mind.

I used some papers, letter stickers and the cut out transportation symbols in the front of my envelope. I also added the lace and a charm to the envelope.

This can be a cute and “useful” addition to any travel bag.

Now go get some sushi!

We packed up a March 2010 Kit.

Shipped it somewhere exotic.

And it has landed in the lap of a real world scrapper.

Where in the world is Crazy Daisy?

Starting with our March 2010 Main Kit we’ll be playing a little game we like to call, “Where in the world is Crazy Daisy?” We have found scrappers around the globe and we’ll be sending our kits to them. As we wait to see what they create with it, we’ll give you hints about where they are from. Try to guess. If you guess right, you’ll be entered to win a prize. Once the scrapper and their locale is revealed, he or she will tell us a little bit about what crafting is like in their part of the world, what inspires them and of course show us what they created with our kits!

How fun is this? If you love to craft and would like to get one of our kits (for free!) and play along with us, send me an email. We still have a few spots left for 2010.

Hello there.

Happy Thursday.

I’ll be glad when this week is over!

This week has turned out to be one heck of a week. Shipping weeks are always crazy and Wednesday was shipping day. Making matters worse … I have pneumonia. My baby has RSV. And worst of all, Jennifer’s mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly. Jennifer is such a trooper. She flew back home from Utah, where her in-laws live for just a single day so she could get the March kits out. Then on just a few hours of sleep, she drove back to Utah with her kids to help prepare for her mother-in-law’s funeral. Bless her heart. And bless her dedication.

As I type this I am amazed at all the wonderful blessing I have in my life. I’m blessed with a hard working, dedicated business partner, who will do whatever it takes to “make it happen.” I’m blessed to have concerned and helpful family members who make sure I’m taking care of myself and getting better. I am beyond lucky to have a nanny who helps me with my kiddos (I’m almost embarrassed to admit I have a nanny, but I do .. ).

Today, while I was sleeping (I was up most of the night coughing and tending to a sick baby) I was woken by the smell of something delicious. I came downstairs to find my amazing nanny making dinner for my family. Making dinner for us is not part of her job. Occasionally, she feeds my kids dinner. But she doesn’t cook for me or my hubby. However, seeing how sick I have been she decided she wanted to make dinner for us. How lucky am I?

I’m also lucky to have the world’s best design team. As our kits make their way to you, let me share a little inspiration with you courtesy of some of the ladies on our design team.

Why do I tell you this? ‘Cause I want to introduce you to one of my new “virtual” friends: Kristen Stewart. Kristen is a member of Crazy Daisy, super cute and of course a mama like many of us out there who love to scrapbook. I was checking out some of the scrapbook pages she created recently and I LOVE, LOVE her style.

So, meet my new friend Kristen!

1. I started scrapbooking … somewhere around 2000, I think.

2. My favorite scrapbooking product, tool or manufacturer is … Right now it would have to be chipboard; letters, number, shapes…heck anything chipboard.

3. My favorite thing to scrapbook about is … My kids (cliché I know). But, specifically, when they were little, because now they are teenagers and scrapping pictures of them when they were little reminds me that they once loved me and didn’t think I was the meanest human being on earth.

4. I scrapbook because … It exercises the left side of my brain…I work with my right as a tax accountant, this makes me balanced.

5. I am the happiest when … I am on a scrap retreat with my friends…lots of food, fun, laughing, and of coarse scrapping.

My favorite scrappy or crafty web site is …. I love Cathy Zielske’s blog, Bits & Pieces. She just cracks me up. She is open and honest and I love her style.
