What I’ve been working on

Posted on by crazydaisy

I go through these phases where I create all sorts of goodies and right now I’m all about digital scrapbooking. I love, love the flexibility it gives me. I can scrap anywhere, at any time. Love it.

Here are a few new pages I’ve created.

DT: Using Rub-ons

Posted on by crazydaisy

Tricks for Using Rub-ons

Though Amy (Kingsford) used the August Main kit for this little tutorial, it applys to every kit. There are so many great ways to spice up your pages with rub-ons and nearly every kit we ship out has some rub-ons in it.

Here’s a few ways Amy used rub-ons to enhance her pages:

1. Use them to dress up your photo clusters.

2. Make your own tags.

3. Create a fun scene on your background paper.

The following tips will help you get a clean transfer with each and every one of your rub-ons:

• Avoid storing your rub-ons in a place that gets extremely hot or cold.
• Use a hard flat surface on which to perform your transfers.
• After performing the transfer use the backing sheet from your rubs to place over top and rub over the image again to seal the image securely.
• When cutting your images from a sheet of rub-ons, leave a small border around the image, to help you determine if the edges of your image are sealed properly.

Have fun with this month’s kit and maybe you can look through old kits to find rub-ons you can repurpose for future projects.

March Peek

Posted on by crazydaisy

I can’t resist. I just have to show you a little something from March. It’s a complete departure from what we did in February and it’s just so luscious!

Did you see the new Lush line from My Mind’s Eye? Well, we did. We loved it. We had to get it. And it’s one of the featured items in our March 2010 Main Kit. The mini for March is the lovely Green Lush Album!

Are you excited? I hope so, ’cause this is one great kit. I’m about to add the March 2010 Main Kit to our shopping cart. That way, if you really want it, you can pre-order. Remember, if you order now … you’re kit won’t ship until March 10th. And if you are already a Crazy Daisy subscriber, no worries –  you’re kit is already reserved.

Looking forward

I’m a planner. Almost to a fault. When things aren’t planned or go differently than planned, I typically have some trouble adjusting to the situation. Jennifer on the other hand is super easy going. She can roll with anything. We are opposites in that regard, which is probably why we have been able to be friends for so long and now business partners.

One of the coolest things to come out CHA are all of our wonderful plans for the next 6 months. I love the process of making lists and planning. I like to plan dinner for a month, though my husband will tell you I rarely stick to that plan! But over the course of the last few weeks, Jennifer and I spread out catalogs and products to  decide what we we’ll be putting in various kits through August. It’s been so much fun to mix and match things we both love and pick out newest and coolest products out there. I’m super excited about the April Main Kit. We’re using some Webster Pages for the very first time. The Lullaby Lane collection (picture below) fits perfectly with our “Boy Meets Girl” theme.

Isn’t this the most adorable collection you’ve ever seen? Our guest designer for April is gonna ROCK this kit. Our guest designer for April just rocks. She’s one of my creative idols. I’m so excited to get our kit and watch the magic happen! But enough about that …

I read an interesting blog post the other day. The title was “Buying is not the soultion.”  It basically talks about how we attempt to make everything better by buying things instead of addressing the real problems. When we want to lose  weight, then we go out and buy a bunch of stuff to help us lose weight. And the list goes on. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and how it applies to my crafting. Instead of just getting to work and crafting away. I obsesses. Then I go buy more stuff. Then I think some more. And then I buy some more stuff … all the while I could have been

Don’t forget to enter our current blog giveaway (see previous post). The comments will be open until Febraury 14th (or until I wake up on the 15th). Have a great night!

I heart our December kit!

Posted on by crazydaisy

Love, love love it. I can’t it enough. I love our December Main kit. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, don’t wait.

Here’s a little something from the amazing Ms. JJ Sobey using the December Main Kit.

"Caught in the Act" by JJ Sobey

“With one of the stamps in the kit, I used StazOn ink and stamped on a blank sheet of transparency. That allowed me to test where I wanted the stamp before using it on my layout. It also allows me to stamp across neighboring surfaces and still get a consistent image.”

December Guest Designer

Posted on by crazydaisy

me 044 webAre you ready for some Guest Designer goodness?

We are super excited to welcome Becky Novacek  as our December Guest Designer.

She’ll be whipping out December Main Kit into some fabulous layouts and we can’t wait to show you all her creations.

Here’s a little bit about Becky to tide you over until we unveil her crafty goodness.

“about 8 years ago, i started really getting into scrapbooking. i mean i really got into it! i loved looking online at layouts in galleries and found myself wanting my scrapbooking to be more than just documenting birthdays and holidays. i wanted to document the every day happenings….as well as my feelings. it became my way of expressing myself not only visually, but i also felt like it was almost therapeutic for me to express my feelings toward my family and loved ones. the empty nest season of life hit me pretty hard at first….but as i created pages about my children as they became more and more independent, it helped me to feel better about what i had done with the child rearing season of life. deep, i know :) but it is true! i still love it as much, if not more than i did in the beginning. i love to spend time in my studio making pages about us. i also have a passion for photography, so it’s the perfect combination of interests for me.”

Becky, thank you for being a part of the Crazy Daisy experience. We think you’re one cool and talented chica.

Some December Layouts

Posted on by crazydaisy

The December kits are on their way. They shipped out today and should be arriving on your doorsteps shortly. In the meantime, here are a couple of cute layouts from Miss Kim using the December Main Kit.

One of the great things about this kit is that though it is Christmas themed, it’s actually rather versatile. You’ll see that the two layouts show here aren’t holiday layouts and the papers/embellishments from the December Kit work wonderfully with them.

“The Queens” was fun with all the Christmas papers and that We R Memory Keepers Glitter lace ornaments. Added some gesso and pop-dots on those North Pole rub-ons – even used some of the packaging!”

“The 4H Banquet layout was a quick layout using a piece of the double sided GCD paper. I liked both sides so I cut off the strip and used the reverse side to anchor the elements on the page. Added the December calendar stamp, and some of the ribbon and the flower.”

November Projects

Posted on by crazydaisy

This last week has been a little chaotic for me. I know, I say that all the time. I’m in the middle of wrapping up a big project with my “real” job and I’ve been spending a lot of time in Canada trying to tie up loose ends. I’m happy to say I’m almost done with all that madness and can get some more crafty time in.

As I play catch up, I want to share some wonderful examples of all the things you can do with our November kits. First up is Grace Tolman and our brand new “Add-On Kit with a Kick.”

Park day fun

“This page was inspired by all the earth tones on the paper and  embellishment plus the jillibean soup paper with fun trees on it. I added ribbons and date ticket here too. I cut out the trees and used them as embellishments on the page. I cut out strips from the JBS notepads and handwrote my journaling.”

Best Dad in the World

“I loved all the papers in the kit that I decided to show them off here. I picked two that I cut out in pieces and then punched out circles for the rest and created the design on the left with them. I also punched out more notepads into circles and then handwrote my journaling. To make my green title stand out from a bold designed paper, I painted brown on the paper and then adhered my title. I connected the blocks of paper with the circles with a strip of ric rac ribbon and added flowers and two owls.”

Grace also created a card set with some of the contents of the November Add-on Kit with a Kick

happy birthday card

I used a lot of the embellishments here and created a visual triangle with the yellow stars.

Mom

I used a journaling sticker as an element to lead the eye to the card title. I also added flowers for the feminine touch.

Thank U

I adhered a big journaling sticker onto cardstock, trimmed it and cut in into two pieces. Making the edges point to the butterfly.

November kits are up

The November Add-on With a Kick Kit

The November Add-on With a Kick Kit

The November Kits are up and ready to go. They are beyond cute, if I do say so myself. I’d like to say that I gathered all the cuteness together, but the real credit goes to Jennifer. She has such a knack for finding the most adorable things and pulling together the best kits around. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many talented and creative people and Jennifer is an inspiration to me (plus, she makes me laugh and she’s seen me give birth … so really, can I have a better friend than that?) I’m so lucky to call her my friend and business partner.

The November Paper Kit

The November Paper Kit

But enough about that … about  the November Kits. If you haven;t already seen them, we’ve added two new kits for November, the Add-on With a Kick and the Paper Kit. The Add-on With a Kickis an awesome kit that’s a bit smaller than our main kit, but still packed full of tons of crafty goodness. The Paper Kit is just that … all paper. We selected 12 adorable sheets of coordinating patterned paper and created a special little kit for all you paper lovers out there.

If you order at least two November Kits by the 10th, we’ll throw in one of our Grab Bag Kits for FREE!!
