Halloween Checklist Mini
By Grace Tolman
This mini was inspired by one of the papers in the kit. It was the MME kraft paper that had fun things noted about Halloween. One part there was the Halloween checklist. I decided to cut them off and use that as the spring board for the mini.

Of course I used the wonderful Basic Grey mini. I covered the more part of it with pattern paper. I used the Pink Paislee paper for the front page because I loved the tree and tombstone designs on it. With that on my front page, I knew that I didn’t have to dress the cover too much just to emphasize the theme.
I added some orange glitter glue around the front and back covers and placed the title block on the cover.
For the inside pages, I visualized it to be simple and repetitive. I feel there’s nothing wrong with the inside pages being the same basic design. It actually brings all of the pages together.

This book will most likely be for this year’s Halloween’s activities so I left lots of spaces for pictures with precut white cardstock. These cardstock will also act as matting for my photos when I’m ready to print and add them to the book. It’ll save me time in the future.
I also sprinkled the JBS buttons in there. The acted as my one constant embellishment all through out the book.

And for the back (above), the Pink Paislee paper again and added a simple strip of paper to add my signature.
Hope you like it!

Check out what Grace did with the July 2010 Main Kit:
Layout #1 Beautiful Friend

In this layout, I used a bunch of the products in the kit. You will find rub ons, embellishments, paper and stickers in this layout. I because I ran out of the maroon “f”. I punched out a circle from a paper with the same color and layered the white/beige sticker on their. This technique still kept the word in the same color scheme. I punched out decorative borders from pattern papers and created a frame for my photo with it.

Layout#2 Cream Puff Heaven

This layout is pretty symmetrical. Everything was assembled in a “lined up” fashion. To break all the lines, I added some buttons, used a scallop edged journaling block sticker and added a cardstock strip with a border punch. I also liked the sugar/flour pattern paper. I thought it was the perfect thing to add to my cream puff layout.

Layout #3 Food trip

This is by far my favorite of all the layouts I made with this kit. I love it because I was able to play with the round scallop piece cut from the pattern paper. I was also inspired by the definitions rub on that I used it to describe our fun food “activity”. I added a strip of pattern paper to point to the title so that it’ll be connected to the rest of the layout.

Layout #4 Kindergarten Buddies

In this page I used the stars and the ruler ribbon to emphasize the “school” theme. I also used the a lot of “three” in the layout like the number of kids in my picture, the three stars in the bottom and the rub on three.

Layout #5 Swing me silly

In this page, I layered a lot of pattern papers. I added about four in this page. I also used the two sets of letter stickers and added a rubon bird. The journaling block sticker had some vintage edge that didn’t match really well with my page, so I cut out the unwanted frame before adding the block sticker to my page.

Note card set
By Grace Tolman
I love that Crazy Daisy kit are always chock full of products that even after finishing a mini book and 5 pages, there are still tons of leftovers to play with. So what do you do with these little gems?
How about make a set of note cards. Nowadays cards can get as big as a layout but what about those little cute note cards? Let’s not forget them!

Make three quick ones with your leftovers. See what I made with mine….

Quick tips:
1. Don’t worry about the size. The variety is actually better.
2. Grab leftover stickers, hand cut patterns from paper and rub ons for your sentiment or focal point.
3. Layer leftover papers, the scraps works well with these smaller project.

So that’s it. Hope you continue to have fun creating with your May kit.

Recycle those packages
By Grace Tolman
Hi guys!
I’m sure by now, you have received your wonderful May kits. Aren’t they to die for? Just gorgeous!
Another gorgeous thing I noticed was the packaging of the products. I really have to commend manufacturers for providing us with endless inspiration. Imagine even the packaging can spark something.
Mine was the back side of the packaging for the canvas stickers from Basic Grey. Look what I made out of it ….

I handcut the flowers and used that as a focal point in this simple “hi” card.

Since my flower cut out is big, I made sure everything else was minimal. Starting with the pattern paper on the background, and then the sentiment and then the bling that I added to the flower pictures.
Inspiration abounds in product packaging. So make sure when you get your kit, don’t quickly toss the containers/packaging that it came from, you’ll never know what you can make out it.

I am minibook
By Grace Tolman
When I get my Crazy Daisy kits every month, I tend to make the layouts first and then work on the mini with all the leftovers but this month, I changed things up a bit and worked on the fantastic Kaiser Scrapbook mini first. I was intrigued at the way the mini was built that it was just calling my name.
Because the mini was packaged together, you need to take a little time to pull them apart and do some sanding.
I painted the edges white to I can have a finished look. Some of the pages have decorative edges on them and I knew that it’ll be tough for me to cover that all with paper so the easier step would be to paint them.

This book was a gift that I gave to my mother in law for Mother’s day. I was inspired by the MME’s paper with all the journaling blocks and thought that it would be neat for my family to have some little known information preserved about our wonderful Grandma Caryol. She laughed when I said that this gift was a gift to her and to me too.

So I covered the mini with the papers in the kit and used the journaling blocks/questions as the main text/body of the mini.

To add texture and dimension to the mini, I added the MM flourish stickers, Prima pearls and rhinestones and Hambly rub ons. Lots of fun stuff from this kit.
So there you have it. Hopefully this inspired you to grab your Crazy Daisy May kit and make something easy and memorable.
Signing off,
Grace
