For this week’s inaugural post, Grace shares a wonderful heart themed project that she created using leftovers from our February 2010 Main Kit.

Heart Frame

The Crazy Daisy kits are always chock full of supplies. You will always get lots of leftovers. The February one is no exception and here’s a little, quick and easy project that I made with my leftover pattern papers.

Since it’s the love month, I decided to make an altered wall art.

To make it, you’ll need a few things….
* Your leftover papers from the kit
* A styrofoam heart (or circle if you prefer)
* A ribbon (long enough to cover your styrofoam and a little bit more for a ribbon to hang the project on the wall)
* A few embellishments (flowers, buttons, sequins, etc)
*A die cut machine (this just makes the process faster, but if you don’t have any, get a template for the flowers and cut by hand)

After you’ve grabbed your supplies, start by cutting out flowers from your pattern papers using your die cut machine. Cut them in varied sizes.

Then cover your Styrofoam with the ribbon. Since the heart was an odd shape, I decided not to cover the top and bottom pointed corners. I thought that the whites won’t show after I cover it with the flowers. Use a glue gun to adhere the ends of your ribbon.

Start layering and adhering your flowers onto the heart. There’s no science to this, the more random it is the better.

Add flowers to the middle of some of the flowers. I only used three here but you can add more.

Tie a bow from the leftover ribbon and adhere the tips of it on the back of the heart.

After looking at my heart, I was not happy with some of them not having centers so I grabbed some buttons and glue gunned them onto the centers of my flowers. This gave each piece a finished look.

If you have everything on hand, this project should only take you no more than 1 hour.

"Bowling Baby" by Grace Tolman

Bowling Baby

I love the combos of green and pink. It screams girl to me so that’s what I used to make this page about my daughter in her first bowling experience.

I had a few pictures to scrap but I still made room for the title, enough journaling spot and spot embellishments.

I used the Pink Paislee stickers as part of my title and hand wrote the rest. I also created a visual triangle between the white on the journaling block, the sticker embellishment and rub-on butterfly.

Curly Q

I love this picture of my daughter. It just so happened to fit the bill of the theme of my page which is all about her curly hair.

I used the lovely shaped paper from Fancy pants. I added some subtle hearts on the paper by using the heart lace cardstock as a mask and spraying glimmer mist on the paper. It’s subtle but I love the added effect of it.

I used the flowers from one of the pattern papers and used them as accents. I added the flower trims here too. One as a trim and another cut out to make separate accents. The ticket stub was added here too.

There are boxes everywhere! But not for long … they’ll all be picked up and headed your way because today is shipping day.

It’s so much fun to see all the boxes stacked everywhere. But it feels even better when we know they are en-route to all of you. So, start looking in your mailboxes, these puppies will be there very soon. Start planning you pages!

Design Team applications are due by Sunday, Feb.7 (that’s a mere two days away!).  We have been looking through the applications we’ve already received and a single word comes to mind: AWESOME. You ladies rock. This is going to be a tough decision, but it’s very exciting to work of all you talented crafters and have such a huge response to our Design Team 2010 call. We are looking forward to picking our new team and putting them to work!
