December Layouts: Grace Rocks

Posted on by crazydaisy

Christmas has come and gone .. but I’m sure if you are anything like me, you’re just getting started on scrapping your holiday photos and stories.  I’ll be honest, I have yet to finish any of the Christmas related scrapping I started … I have lots of projects in various stages of readiness. I was looking at Grace’s pages below and was feeling a tad but guilty I haven’t done more, but mostly feeling motivated to commit my stories to something permanent … since my memory will fail me sooner, rather than later.

So if you’re a little like me and need a crafty kick in the pants, check out what Grace Tolman did with our December Main kit. Then, get out your photos. Start journaling. And remember all the wonderful things that happened over the last month. Isn’t that what scrapbooking is all about?

“The kit definitely helped me feel the ‘festive’ appeal of the season with its bright and fun colors and products. This page was brought by that inspiration. I used a lot of the products in the kit here like the papers, Prima letter stickers, flower, brad, the fun Kaiser scrapbook rubons and the stamp set.
I used the rubons to create my visual triangle. I love the ease to transfer of these rubons.”

“Continuing my goal to show you that the products in this kit can absolutely work with double page spread, here’s mine for this month. I love that the papers are double sided and provides lots of ways to add them to the layouts.

Since my pictures were on the dark side, I used a white background and kept the pattern papers to simple designs so they don’t overpower the pictures.

I used the Kaiser rubons to hold my journaling and played around with my stitching as well combining the zigzag and regular straight stitch.

I also created a cluster of embellishments on the right corner of the two page spread to add some interest.”

“This page is about my daughter’s preschool party last year. I love that this kit contained so much products and inspiration that I was able to dive into a lot of my last year’s Holiday pictures and get a lot of them scrapped.

The Santa ribbon was perfect for this page. I also used the ornament glitter stickers to emphasize the theme.”

“This one was inspired by the big ornament design on one of the Making Memories Mistletoe papers. I cut them out and used them as accents on the page. I also loved the Christmas tree ribbon which I used as a border here.”

“Who said that you can’t use a Christmas kit for a summer page? Well, I sure didn’t listen. LOL.
I was inspired by the green scalloped paper, I cut the inside part and used the outside as a frame for my pictures and papers. It was a little challenge to get the pictures on there and trim the edges but with a few tricks with the adhesive, I was able to get them to stick together seamlessly.
I added a cluster of embellishments on the top corner so the eye can go all the way around the page.”

My children visiting Santa

My children visiting Santa

It’s a little crazy at my house. Crazy good, but still crazy.

I have been up to my eye balls in work and have traveled to Canada more times than I’d like (not that I don’t like Canada, it’s just that I’d rather be a home!).

But through all the craziness, we’ve been getting ready for Christmas.

I wrapped more presents today. My daughter and I made the most adorable card for her teacher. Even with her directing most of the process, she’s five, it turned out super cute.

I made some ornaments that feature pictures of my kiddos. I’ve been meaning to make these snowflake picture ornaments for years, but just got around to it. Now I want to make tons of them. They were easy to make and are just adorable.

Last night I addressed what seemed like a million Christmas cards and I’m happy to say they’ve all be mailed and are on their way to points across the globe. I’m notorious for mailing my Christmas cards after Christmas, so I’m quite proud of myself.

At the end of this week we head to Atlanta. I have a company Christmas party to attend and we’re going to squeeze in a quick visit with some family and a tour of the Biltmorein Asheville, NC.

Then it’s home for the final dash … cookies to bake, presents to wrap, gifts to finish making (I’m making a lot of things this year and they’re all in various stages of completion!).

There are still a few December Main Kits available, so make sure you order yours now. If you head on over to Stacy Julian’s blog you can enter for a chance to win our December Main Kit. She will be closing her contest today, so get on over there … fast.

Don’t forget we won’t be having a January 2010 Kit, we’re taking a much needed break and will be headed to CHA to shop for future kits! So, do as much shoppng now, while we are still open for biz.

We’re looking for more Facebook fans and Twitter followers. If you click on one o those buttons on our page and become our fan or follower, we’ll give you $5 off your next order. Tell a friend and we’ll give you another $5 off. Just mention Facebook or Twitter in the comments of your order and I’ll refund you $5.

Love, love love it. I can’t it enough. I love our December Main kit. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, don’t wait.

Here’s a little something from the amazing Ms. JJ Sobey using the December Main Kit.

“With one of the stamps in the kit, I used StazOn ink and stamped on a blank sheet of transparency. That allowed me to test where I wanted the stamp before using it on my layout. It also allows me to stamp across neighboring surfaces and still get a consistent image.”

A little something from Becky

Posted on by crazydaisy

Hello there. Happy Saturday. Christmas preparations are in full swing at my house. I’ve made a goal to wrap at least one present a day, so I won’t be stuck wrapping a mountain of presents late into the night on Christmas Eve. I know already have most of my children’s presents wrapped, so I’m feeling great. My daughter thinks it’s awesome that there are presents under the tree, though she is constantly begging to open “just one present!”

Here are a couple of wonderful layouts from our guest designer of the month, BeckyNovacek. There are more pages coming, but I just couldn’t wait to show you some fun pages from Becky.

I know I say this every month, but I think this is my favorite kit. It’s so festive. I just love, love it!

me 044 webAre you ready for some Guest Designer goodness?

We are super excited to welcome Becky Novacek  as our December Guest Designer.

She’ll be whipping out December Main Kit into some fabulous layouts and we can’t wait to show you all her creations.

Here’s a little bit about Becky to tide you over until we unveil her crafty goodness.

“about 8 years ago, i started really getting into scrapbooking. i mean i really got into it! i loved looking online at layouts in galleries and found myself wanting my scrapbooking to be more than just documenting birthdays and holidays. i wanted to document the every day happenings….as well as my feelings. it became my way of expressing myself not only visually, but i also felt like it was almost therapeutic for me to express my feelings toward my family and loved ones. the empty nest season of life hit me pretty hard at first….but as i created pages about my children as they became more and more independent, it helped me to feel better about what i had done with the child rearing season of life. deep, i know :) but it is true! i still love it as much, if not more than i did in the beginning. i love to spend time in my studio making pages about us. i also have a passion for photography, so it’s the perfect combination of interests for me.”

Becky, thank you for being a part of the Crazy Daisy experience. We think you’re one cool and talented chica.

Some December Layouts

Posted on by crazydaisy

The December kits are on their way. They shipped out today and should be arriving on your doorsteps shortly. In the meantime, here are a couple of cute layouts from Miss Kim using the December Main Kit.

One of the great things about this kit is that though it is Christmas themed, it’s actually rather versatile. You’ll see that the two layouts show here aren’t holiday layouts and the papers/embellishments from the December Kit work wonderfully with them.

“The Queens” was fun with all the Christmas papers and that We R Memory Keepers Glitter lace ornaments. Added some gesso and pop-dots on those North Pole rub-ons – even used some of the packaging!”

“The 4H Banquet layout was a quick layout using a piece of the double sided GCD paper. I liked both sides so I cut off the strip and used the reverse side to anchor the elements on the page. Added the December calendar stamp, and some of the ribbon and the flower.”

Sorry for the delay, but I promise it’s more than worth it. The December kits are here and you are gonna love ‘em.

With the arrival of our December 2009 Main Kit, Christmas is officially  here! Our main kit features the very latest Christmas collections from Crate Paper, Making Memories and We R Memory Keepers, which include several specialty die-cut, flocked and glitter papers.  This month’s sparkly album has a flocked cover and embossed chipboard pages and would be absolutely perfect for all your holiday memories.

Here’s a close up of this month’s album … can you say adorable? I just love it … it has so much texture, personality and flair. It will be perfect for all your holiday memories.

In addition to our main kit for December, we also have some Holiday-Themed Grab Bags. Each bag includes a winter themed mini album from American Crafts and are stuffed full of lots of fun paper and product.

We’ll be closed for the month of January, so that means there will be no January kits. Make sure you stock up before the end of December, so you don’t run out of supplies. After a much needed vacation and a trip to CHA, we’ll be back in action for February.
