Have you ever been to the web site Let’s Scrap?

They post a sketch. You create a layout based on that sketch. Upload your layout and you’re entered in a chance to win a cool prize.

For the next two weeks, the Crazy Daisy July kit is the prize. So, if you’re looking for a way to win our July Main kit then head on over there, check out the sketch and “Let’s Scrap.”

A cool challenge site

I was surfing the Web tonight a stumbled on “A YOU Scrapbooking Idea — Weekly Challenge ,” it’s a scrapbooking challenge project that focuses on creating pages all about you.

Each week they post a challenge and an example of how’d they would scrap that challenge. What I found appealing about this particular challenge was that the prompts would force me to document my personal story and focus on me. So often I scrap about my kids and forget to document my story independent of my children and husband.

They started posted challenges in January, so there are already 24 challenges waiting for you to tackle. The most recent challenge is “I can’t live without … “

Okay, so I’ll play along. I can’t live without …

my family, specifically my husband and kids.

my iPhone. I’m addicted to the sucker, it makes my life so much easier.

my fuzzy travel socks. There’s nothing better than slipping those warm, fuzzy socks on at the start of a plane ride.

books. For as long as I can remember, I have had a great love affair with books. There’s nothing better than snuggling up with a great book and a sweet treat of some sort.

What can’t you live without? I’m gonna scrapbook the things I can’t love without, and you should too.

CHALLENGE: How would you scrap it?

My very own Crazy Daisy, my DD Shelby Rose.

My very own Crazy Daisy, my DD Shelby Rose.

Last Friday, I posted a picture of my daughter Shelby and asked you all how’d you scrap it.

Here’s what I did.  Using the June Main kit, I printed out the picture of Shelby with her hands on her hips as a 5×7, so it would be the major element on the page. It’s such a cute picture, so I wanted it to be the focus. I painted the large monograms (CRAZY) white, leaving a lot of the natural color visible and then stapled them onto the page. Then using some rub-ons, I added “daisy” near the letter “C.” Since I wanted Crazy to stand out more, I used the huge lettering and chose small rub-ons for daisy.

My journaling came directly from last week’s blog post and I just cut it into strips. Finally, I added some felt flowers and the adorable owl/flower pebbles.

This page is rather simple. Lately I’ve been trying to create pages that are less cluttered and focus more on the photos or the story. I often have a hard time stopping myself from adding just one more embellishment. The end result for this page is pretty clean and cute (I put my embellishments down and walked away … otherwise you would have seen a much more cluttered page). I love it and my daughter liked it too (she’s the real judge since the page is all about her!).

So what do you think? What should I have done different? How would you have done it? Submit a layout or a sketch, so we can see how you would scrap it. We’ll pick a winner next Friday.

CHALLENGE: How would you scrap it?

Posted on by crazydaisy

How would you scrap it? Each Friday I’m going to be posting something (pictures, memorabilia, a story) and I want to know how you would scrap it. Submit a whole layout or a sketch. You don’t have to use out kit, but if you do, please tell us what you used.

We’ll pick a winner and on the next Friday when we post out next challenge we’ll announce who gets the prize. Each week the prize will be some sort of awesome scrapbooking related goodies. We might even send you a free kit.

During the week, I’ll post my own layout and show you all how I decided to scrap it.

Here’s the first challenge  …

My daughter, Shelby Rose

My daughter, Shelby Rose

My daughter Shelby is a bit crazy. That’s actually how we got the name for our kit club. I always call her my “Crazy Daisy.”  She’s going through a stage right now where she’s super opinionated and even sassier than she usually is. She told me the other day (with her hands on her hips, of course) that when she grows up she’s not going to make her kids take naps; she’s going to let them sleep with her at night; and she’s going to let her kids stay up as late as they want. Clearly there are a few things I do that she’s not happy with!
