What’s new?
Well, for starters … I got a new camera. I have been wanting a new camera for a very long. I have done my research. I have window shopped. I have drooled. And I was just waiting for my husband’s stamp of approval. The stamp cam last Friday and I went right out and got this little guy:

It’s a EOS Rebel T1i with EF-S 18-55mm IS and I’m in heaven. This is my first Digitial SLR and I love, love, love it. I have always used a basic point and shoot camera and now that I’ve gone this route, I’ll never be able to go back. The pictures, even on auto mode, are so much better. I have been having a blast taking pictures of everything.
I’m in the second week of Shimelle‘s “Love Your Pictures, Love Your Pages” online class. I’m happy to say I’m keeping up and have created 4 new layouts as part of the class. Here’s a look at what I’ve been working on.

So what are you up to? What are you working on? Tell us and we’ll enter you in for a chance to win a free kit. If you already subscribe then we will send you a kit you don’t already receive or create a special one just for you. For newbies, we’ll send you a July Kit of your choice.
I’ll pick a winner on Sunday, July 18. Have a great day!

I’m taking another class. This one is called “Love Your Pictures, Love Your Pages.” It’s from Shimelle and you can find the class here. The class is a hybrid of photography and scrapbooking. It focuses on taking better pictures that you’ll love … which means you’ll love your scrapbooking pages more as a result.
Before the class started, we were given a challenge to take a spontaneous photo. We were told to take a photo in the next five minutes. And at that moment, Shelby walked into my room and had a meltdown. So, I took a picture of her meltdown! I’m sure she hated me at the moment, but I am so glad I have this photo. I take all sorts of happy photos, but we aren’t always happy, right?

The class prompt for the second day had us taking pictures of flowers. Here’s my favorite from that prompt. Finding flowers in Arizona can be tough. If I would have had more time and was feeling better (I have an ear infection right now), I would have found a flowering cactus to shoot, which is my absolute favorite desert image.
These photos, like most of them, were taken on my point and shoot or my iPhone (I take a lot of iPhone pictures). I’m getting a fancy camera this month!!! Woo hoo! I can’t wait. I hope when I get the new camera my pictures will be even better.

Do you ever feel so tired you can’t really think about anything but being tired? That’s me right now. I’m tired. Note the tired eyes in the picture above. I went to bed before fireworks …. that’s how tired I’ve been.
I’m finally home and get to stay put for at least three weeks. I’m relishing the thought of not packing a suitcase, boarding an airplane or toting a backpack for three whole weeks. The hubbs keeps telling me “Chin up. At least we bot have good jobs. We shouldn’t complain.” And he’s right. I’m just so tired.
So, my attempt to make it back to the States before the Fourth of July was thwarted. I flew from Copenhagen to Prague and then … missed my connection to Atlanta. The very nice ladies at Czech Airlines tried to help me get home, since there’s no Delta counter in the Prague airport, but their help just seemed to make things worse!
I ended up boarding a plane to Frankfurt. Hung out in the Frankfurt airport while Germany was winning its game in the World Cup. Then I went to Chicago, where I was suppose to be able to meet with a Delta agent and get a flight home to Arizona that night (July 3). Too bad every single stinking person who works for Delta had gone home by the time I landed in Chicago. And so, I had to spend the night in Chicago. It’s almost worse to make it so close to home, but not quite get there. On the morning of the 4th I was able to find a flight, get a ticket and travel to Arizona all before lunch time.
If all of this wasn’t bad enough … the train I took to Copenhagen from Aarhus, Denmark didn’t have working air conditioning. It was 95 degrees inside the train for the 3 and 1/2 hour train ride. I thought I was going to melt away. It was miserable.
Oh and I mention I “lost” my passport in the Copenhagen airport? I left it in a shop where I had purchased a bracelet and only realized I didn’t have it moments before I was suppose to board my plane. I had to run through the airport, find my passport and run back to my gate before my plane left without me. This was seriously the WORST travel experience I’ve had in a very long time.
Meanwhile, while this is all happening … my husband hatched a plan to throw me a “Welcome Home” (and 4th of July) party. I travel a lot, so I don’t get welcome home parties much. We’d be having them all the time if that was the case. But since I was having such a cruddy time trying to get home, he planned a little surprise party. He let Shelby pick out all sorts of very cheesy decorations (steamers, balloons, party hats, flags galore, etc.) at Party City and they covered the house in 4th of July goodness. It was such a sweet idea and it made my weekend.
The best part? A huge sign that said “Welcome Home Mom.” The sign was all Shelby’s idea. And with the help of Daddy .. .she created it and hung it in out kitchen (it’s still up there and I smile each time I walk into the kitchen).

Even in the worst of moments, life isn’t all that bad. I did make it home. I did get to celebrate the Fourth of July with my family. And I know without a doubt I am loved by some very wonderful people.

Procrastinator.
Lazy.
Tired.
Unmotivated.
I’ve been home from Brazil for little over a week now and I’m having the hardest time getting back into the swing of things. I haven’t been feeling my best, which only complicates matters … but I have way too much to get done and feeling so unmotivated is putting a serious cramp in my productivity.

So what’s new? I cut my hair. I chopped off about four inches. I was tired of dealing with it and wanted a change. So chop. My daughter also got her hair cut (see photo above). She usually is highly adverse to getting her hair cut. Trims are even too much for her. She loudly proclaims, “I just want it blond mom.” Umm, it is Shelby. But for some reason on this outing she told me she wanted her hair cut, gasp, short. So, we went with a shoulder length bob. It looks adorable.

Cooper is getting bigger by the moment. Seriously, I don’t remember Shelby growing up this fast. I love, love, love my little boy. He’s just so sweet. He has started to reach out for me and wraps his chubby little arms around my neck. I love to nuzzle him and drink in everything about him. He’s on the verge of walking and he doesn’t stay still all day long.
With the weather so fabulous here in Arizona, my hubby has been motivated to work on our backyard. Last weekend alone he and Shelby planted some new trees (including a peach tree), tomatoes and lots of pretty plants and flowers. He trimmed our wild Oleanders and beautified our planters with red mulch. Our backyard is starting to look good! As soon as I’m more motivated, I’ll share some photos.
So, what am I actually motivated to do? This.

I even packed up my supplies with me and brought them to my favorite Starbucks (the place I like to work during the day when I need to get out of the house and REALLY focus).
Onto some Crazy Daisy news … Jennifer has been working her little heart out planning kits for the rest of the year. There are some fun things planned for the remainder of the year and I can’t wait to show you little peeks. We’re also planning lots of fun giveaways … this is going to be our Summer of Giveaways, so stay tuned for more information .
Here’s a little (very little) peek of what is planned for June. I love this kit and I’m sure you will too.

Happy Tuesday! Let’s cross our fingers I get out of my funk!

Hello there.
It’s me. I’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off (this reminds me of a funny story about my mom, but I’ll have to save that for later).
I leave for Brazil tomorrow and I’m in the final stages of getting everything ready. Since I’m the mama … I feel the need to make sure everything in my house is in order before I walk out the door.
Laundry must done.
Groceries for the week purchased.
Mid-week field trips prepped for (Shelby has an overnight camping trip next week, yikes. So I have to get her packed for that and make sure our nanny can watch the little one while daddy camps with the big one … see what I mean about crazy).
Birthday party presents wrapped (Shelby is oh so popular and has lots of parties to attend!).
Fish food secured (poor fish hasn’t eaten in a week).
And the list goes on. And on. And on … it’s a lot to remember. And I pride myself on remembering it all and getting it all done. I might go nuts, but it all will be done.
As I was driving Shelby to school this morning, she said to me, “Mom, I can’t wait until we get to relax. I can’t wait until we get just one day where there is no school or no work.” She went on to talk about a vacation she is planning (in her head) that will take our family to Hawaii. I sure like the way my little girl thinks. I’m ready for that day too. But in the meantime, I’m a smart, resourceful girl … so I’ll make it through the crazy. I got the following thought in my email box this morning and thought it was oh so appropriate for me at just this moment.

Even with all the craziness, I’m reminded how much I love my life and how grateful I am to have such a wonderful and full life. There’s lots of people who have never even been on an airplane and here I am traveling around the globe and taking my kids with me most of the time. … how cool is that?
As I was shopping for Shelby’s class earlier this week I was thinking about how everyone and every parent is different … and that’s okay. I might not help in Shelby’s class every week, but I do what I can, when I can. Each person has a different story. Each family has a different dynamic. When I look at my kids and see how smart and happy they are …. I know that our way is just right for us.
Have a wonderful weekend. Scrap your little hearts out for National Scrapbooking Day. I’m going to do some digi layouts and share them … hopefully I can post them while I wait for my connection to Rio in Atlanta. Otherwise, I’ll share them with you all as soon as I land in Rio. I’ll be checking in next week with pictures from Rio. And of course … the May Kits will be up tomorrow.
Hope your life is as CRAZY fun and happy as mine!

Time to guess “Where in the World is Crazy Daisy” for April.
1. This country has a king, queen, prince … ya know, a monarchy.
2. The people who live here eat lots of fish.
3. One of Shakespeare’s great tragedies is set here.
4. The folks here know and love their beer. They even have a very strong beer named after a pachyderm.
Leave a comment with you guess. We’ll pick a winner on Saturday, May 1 when we also reveal our May Kits!

Hello world! I’ve missed you.
I apologize for not posting sooner. I have a good excuse. Life has been beyond nuts. As our week long vacation to Disneyland was coming to an end, my little baby boy got sick. Very sick. So sick we had to take him to the hospital straight from the airport and he was admitted …
It was absolutely heartbreaking to watch my baby be poked and prodded. He screamed. He kicked his little arms and legs. He would look at me with the most pitiful look that seemed to say, “Why aren’t you helping me mama?”

That’s my little guy hanging out in the ER. Notice the thumb sucking? He’s my little thumb sucker. He never wanted a binkie, he has always preferred his thumb. As we waited for doctors to decide what to do, Coop slept a little bit. It was one of the rare moments the staff wasn’t bothering him, so he was able to rest. My poor husband had to endure the worst of it, as I started to cry around the 3rd attempt to get an IV in. It took 5 tries total to get his IV in since he was so dehydrated. His little veins were so dry that when they did find a vein on his chubby body, it would collapse. They had to poke him a few more times after that to draw blood … so he was stuck by 7 different nurses and each of them stuck him a couple of times. There were chest x-rays, ultrasounds, temperature checks … a long night of little sleep and one fussy baby.
Horrible. Just plain horrible. I was the only one who could calm him down. Babies want their mamas when they are sick or hurt. So I spent most of the night holding Cooper and loving on him. To say I was scared would be an understatement. I knew I loved this little guy, but this experience made me realize that I love him more than anything in this world and would do anything to protect him and keep him safe. If I could have been the sick one and spared Cooper of all this pain, I would have. He’s such a sweet little soul, which makes it even harder to see him in such pain. No one deserves that, especially not Cooper.

Cooper ended up spending his first birthday in the hospital. Not exactly what we had planned. He missed his own party! However, I am so grateful we have great health insurance and access to the best care possible. The folks at UMC took wonderful care of Cooper and even helped make his 1st birthday extra special. At one point, the entire pediatric staff came into his room and sang happy birthday to him. They brought him cake, balloons and even wrapped presents. Our nanny had made Cooper the most wonderful and elaborate birthday cake, and brought it by the hospital too … along with good cheer and love for our sicky.
In the end, it was a very bad stomache bug that hit Cooper. All the vomitting, diahria and high fever had beaten up on his little body. We were able to take him home and he slept the final hours of his birthday in his own crib.

P.S. Disneyland was great. We discovered Shelby is a MAJORthrill seeker. She loved all the roller coasters the best. Because we had a baby, she got to take advantage of Disney’s passenger switch policy and ride every ride twice … once with daddy and then again with mama. How’s that for cool? We’re glad we waited until Shelby was five to take her to Disneyland. She was tall enough to ride every ride and really enjoyed the experience. It was a thrill to see how much pleasure the whole trip brought her from hanging out in the hotel and shopping to riding rides and seeing her favorite characters. Disneyland is so much better with kids!

We’re taking the Disney plunge. Since I grew up in Southern California and have been to Disneyland more times than I can count, I’m actually a little surprised that Shelby hasn’t been to Disneyland before. She went to California Adventure when she was about 18 months old (which means she didn’t get it and doesn’t remember it) … but no Disneyland. I was raised on Disneyland. I aspired to work at Disneyland. I loved everything about Disneyland.
This week is Shelby’s Spring Break and I have blocked out an entire week of family time. We’re flying to Los Angeles. We’re staying in a hotel within walking distance of Disneyland. We’ve already purchased our park hopper tickets. We are going to do it and do it right! Jennifer is also on vacation this week and doing Disney … but she’s at Disney World with her girls! How fun and cool is that. Great minds think alike.
Cooper has no idea what’s going to happen, but Shelby? She is bouncing off the walls in excitement. I can’t wait to see her face when she sees the gates of Disneyland. It’s such a joy to re-live and re-see the wonders of childhood through our children’s eyes.
I’m excited to make some new memories. And I can’t wait to take all the photos and stories from this trip and preserve them forever. Here’s to a magical week!

The other day, I was listening to a podcast while I was driving to my sister’s house in New Mexico. It was her daughter’s 5th birthday, so the kiddos and I were making the relatively short trek to Rio Ranchoto celebrate with little Savannah May. The last few years our girls have been able to celebrate their birthdays together, so it’s important to me to take advantage of cousin time whenever possible.
Anyway. My point. I was listening to a podcast that mentioned how there are a lot of women in the crafting industry who feel inadequete. That they look at the industry rock stars or the various crafting magazines and then feel like they just aren’t good enough.
Guess what? You are good enough.
I’m good enough. Everything I create is is an artistic expression of me. So no one can ever tell me it’s not good enough … and I certainly shouldn’t be telling myself I’m not good enough. I am good enough.
As long as I tell my story. As long as I create things that matter to me. Then I am good enough.
I’m tired of feeling inadequate. When I stop beating myself down, I actually create projects, things and art that I love and am so proud of … the last few weeks have been a perfect example. I’ve just been creating for the sake of creating. Creating for the joy of creating. And I have been having fun and producing projects I love. It’s so counterproductive to me and the creative process to participate in negative self talk.
Now, look in the mirror and say it with me. “I am good enough.”
Repeat until you believe it.
Then … get out your crafting supplies, let yourself go and have fun. Create.

We packed up a March 2010 Kit.
Shipped it somewhere exotic.
And it has landed in the lap of a real world scrapper.
Where in the world is Crazy Daisy?
Starting with our March 2010 Main Kit we’ll be playing a little game we like to call, “Where in the world is Crazy Daisy?” We have found scrappers around the globe and we’ll be sending our kits to them. As we wait to see what they create with it, we’ll give you hints about where they are from. Try to guess. If you guess right, you’ll be entered to win a prize. Once the scrapper and their locale is revealed, he or she will tell us a little bit about what crafting is like in their part of the world, what inspires them and of course show us what they created with our kits!
How fun is this? If you love to craft and would like to get one of our kits (for free!) and play along with us, send me an email. We still have a few spots left for 2010.
Now … time for some hints as to where the March 2010 Kit landed.
- Almost 43 million people live here
- Those who live here are serious about soccer
- The colors of this country’s flag are red, green, white, blue, yellow … with a little black to boot.
- There was a movie, which got Oscar buzz and a few nominations, that featured this country
Any ideas where in the world Crazy Daisy might be? Tell us where you think our March Kit is … and even if you don’t get it right, we’ll pick a winner next Friday (March 26) . The winner will get a cool bunch of goodies, including a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, MME papers and a Crazy Daisy Scrapbooking tote.
