Recycle those packages
By Grace Tolman
Hi guys!
I’m sure by now, you have received your wonderful May kits. Aren’t they to die for? Just gorgeous!
Another gorgeous thing I noticed was the packaging of the products. I really have to commend manufacturers for providing us with endless inspiration. Imagine even the packaging can spark something.
Mine was the back side of the packaging for the canvas stickers from Basic Grey. Look what I made out of it ….

I handcut the flowers and used that as a focal point in this simple “hi” card.

Since my flower cut out is big, I made sure everything else was minimal. Starting with the pattern paper on the background, and then the sentiment and then the bling that I added to the flower pictures.
Inspiration abounds in product packaging. So make sure when you get your kit, don’t quickly toss the containers/packaging that it came from, you’ll never know what you can make out it.
Signing off,
Grace

I am minibook
By Grace Tolman
When I get my Crazy Daisy kits every month, I tend to make the layouts first and then work on the mini with all the leftovers but this month, I changed things up a bit and worked on the fantastic Kaiser Scrapbook mini first. I was intrigued at the way the mini was built that it was just calling my name.
Because the mini was packaged together, you need to take a little time to pull them apart and do some sanding.
I painted the edges white to I can have a finished look. Some of the pages have decorative edges on them and I knew that it’ll be tough for me to cover that all with paper so the easier step would be to paint them.

This book was a gift that I gave to my mother in law for Mother’s day. I was inspired by the MME’s paper with all the journaling blocks and thought that it would be neat for my family to have some little known information preserved about our wonderful Grandma Caryol. She laughed when I said that this gift was a gift to her and to me too.

So I covered the mini with the papers in the kit and used the journaling blocks/questions as the main text/body of the mini.

To add texture and dimension to the mini, I added the MM flourish stickers, Prima pearls and rhinestones and Hambly rub ons. Lots of fun stuff from this kit.
So there you have it. Hopefully this inspired you to grab your Crazy Daisy May kit and make something easy and memorable.
Signing off,
Grace

Hello there. Happy May. If you haven’t gotten your May kit yet … no worries. We’re sure you still have some leftover goodies from your April Kit to create with and the wonderful Miss Amber is here to show you just what you can do with them:

The Leftovers
By Amber Zimmerman
Hello! By now you’ve all received your kits and probably have created some pages with it. I made 5 pages and still had some cute embellishments and papers left over that I wanted to use. I just loved the embellies that Jennifer and Kimberly included in the kit and had to figure out a way to display them where they were the stars of the show.
Well, since I am a “list” person it didn’t take long for me to come up with something. I love to write lists. I have them all over the house. List of things to do today, list of things to buy for photography, list of meals for the week, etc. My mind is a creative storm of ideas, but they come and go so quickly that if I don’t write them down somewhere I may lose it in the great abyss of my brain forever! So I set to work creating a “message board” if you will, of creative ideas.

The first thing that I gathered were my leftover supplies. Most important was the Hambly transparency, as that would be where I write my ideas (photo above).

Second, I used a vintage book that I purchased at a garage sale for 10 cents. I took off the front cover, and that was my base. I picked out my papers and arranged them how I liked them. I secured the Hambly with double sided tape. I used the cute woman chipboard and inked it. Once it was complete, I used my crop-a-dile to make the holes and found some vintage seam binding to use as my “hanger” (photo above).

To make the scallops, I used one of my go to Martha Stewart punches (photo above). I punched out the circles and arranged them on the edge of the book cover with double sided tape (photo below).

To completeit, I used a dry erase marker (photo below) to jot my ideas as they come to me. My little “message board” is a bit busy, but you could easily use the Hambly alone with just a few decorative brads and buttons so you would have more room to write.

And here’s a look at the finished product:

I thought I would share one of the links to the idea that I am determined to complete this summer for my kiddo’s room, it could also hold scrap supplies!

The May Kits have been shipped. They actually went out a little early, so you might already have yours in your hands! Either way, here’s a look at the mini book the wonderful Stacy Julianmade with the May 2010 Main Kit. It is such a thrill for me to see what Stacy creates, and especially when it was created from one of our kits. She’s so talented, and I love her scrapbooking philosophy. Thanks a million Stacy for taking the time to be our May Guest Designer.

Even though it’s a day late, I must wish all you mamas out there Happy Mother’s Day. I meant to blog yesterday. But I didn’t. I slept in. I lounged around the house. Went to a fancy brunch. Had a pedicure. I was the poster child for procrastination! And it was GREAT. I made it home from Brazil on Saturday super exhausted but happy to be home. My kiddos were happy too. Cooper is all about his mama, so he’s been attached to me since I walked through the door. Not that I mind. I was happy to watch him sleep yesterday and let him snuggle on my chest. Babies are just the sweetest thing ever and they are even better when they belong to you.
So, to satisfy your creative needs. I have lots of goodies to share! Lots! I might have to spread them out over the course of this week, since I came back from Brazil with a head cold … which means I might sputter out and need a nap!
But, here’s an adorable Mother’s Day card Miss Amy created with the May Main Kit.

Also from Amy … a peek at her May Mini. Isn’t it adorable? I love it!

Okay, so I have lots planned. I have Where in the World is Crazy Daisy updates (and prize winner). I have a mini book to show you from May’s Guest Designer Stacy Julian. I have a couple of tutorials from our Design Team. And I’ll be back with my “4 Things,” before the week is over.
In the meantime, check out this cute tutorial (photo below) I found thanks to Scrap Scene. I have a thing for flowers and fabric. If I could only buy a few things in this world, fabric and flowers would make my list!

Hello from Brazil!
I have been jet lagged and super busy … so I have been slow to blog.
I posted the May kits a few days back, but wanted to showcase just how wonderful they are …
The Main Kit is a wonderful collection of purples and blues and features the Kaisercraft antique tag album. Isn’t it delicious?

The mini is quite different with cheery yellows from the Pink Paislee Queen Bee Collection. Since I love yellow and it makes me happy, this kit is one of my favorites.

Kits ship on May 10th, so if you don’t have yours already … get it now!
