Grab Bags Reduced

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Out with the old. In with the new.

Jennifer and I just did some major shopping at CHA. So we need to clear our shelves. We’ve reduced the price of our Grab Bags to $15. These bags are filled with tons of goodies from the 2009 kits. Lots of paper. Lots of embellishments. Lots of crafty goodness.

And if that wasn’t good enough, if you buy two grab bags, we’ll send you a third one for free.

If you’re already a Crazy Daisy subscriber, order some grab bags and we’ll send them to you with your February Main Kit for no additional shipping charge.

Go here to purchase your grab bags today.

Today’s inspirational thought

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Jennifer and I text a lot. We are both VERY busy, but we can always manage to fit in a little time to send a text or two (or three … ). Today I got a text from Jen that shared the following inspirational thought:

“Stop thinking. Thinking is the enemy of creativity.”

Amen sister. Isn’t that the case for a lot of us? We over think. We over plan. We stress ourselves out. And in the end, we either don’t have time to be creative or we get stuck at the starting point.

Last Saturday, Jennifer and I took a class from Stacy Julian. In the course of the 2-hour class we started and FINISHED a 6×6 album. Stacy calls the technique “Finish Line Scrapbooking.” I call it brilliant. In the most basic terms, you simply take all the hard work out of scrapping and just scrap. You think simple, plan less and just create. How wonderful is that?

I took some notes from Stacy’s class, which I promise to share. But they are buried in my CHA bag and right now my kids need a little mommy time …. actually, mommy needs a little kid time :)

So, check back tomorrow. We’ll talk fast scrapping then. And I’ll also tell you a little more about CHA, our February goodies and the future!

Happy Wednesday to you!

So Much to See

Monday, January 25th, 2010

CHA is awesome.

There is so much to see. There is so much to inspire. There is just … so much.

As we start our Monday morning (Jennifer is still asleep), we are excited, but exhausted. We’ll be headed back over to the convention center in a few hours to start shopping. We spent all of yesterday searching out the best goodies and now we’re ready to buy, buy and buy some more.

Lush-Green2

This is what I can tell you. We are so loving the Lush Flocked Albums (photo above) from My Mind’s Eye (look for them to show up in a kit, very soon … like March). These puppies are new, they are way cool and they totally changed the direction of the March Kit. You’re gonna love it!

We love the vintage look of Melissa Frances. Yesterday we meet Melissa and she walked s through her booth and showed us everything. Seriously, she is the nicest person ever and she has such a fun, shabby chic style. Normally, I don’t do shabby chic. But she has some really adorable products, which will be showing up in a future kit (Psst, it ill be April if you really must know!).

DEV

Kaisercraft is rad. They has the best make ‘n take with the coolest goody bag yesterday. We made a fabulous mini book, which will be the basis of future kits as well. Do you love peach, brown and blue? We do! The Devonshire collection was our fav (photo above).

Some of our other favorites: Basic Grey (of course), Tattered Angels, Crate Paper, GCD Designs, Webster Pages … just to name a few. all of those I just mentioned, will be purchased today (and then some)!!!

Gotta go … off to shop! Check back for more info as the week goes on. I might even take some pictures today!

SweetCoop

My litle boy is growing up so fast. I can’t believe he’ll be 10 months old soon. I was pretty sure I wasn’t cut out to be a mom to a boy. I had gotten used to having a girl, since my oldest is a girl and there is 5 years between my kids. I have been amazed at how easy it has been to adapt to having a boy and a new addition to our family.

This is a time in my life I never want to forget. My children are healthy and happy. My husband is doing amazing things with his family’s business. And I have the opportunity to both travel and be involved in a creative business with my best girl friend. How awesome is that.

ShelbHeart

This doesn’t have much to do with Crazy Daisy … other than I’m one half of Crazy Daisy and I have been reminded a lot lately of how blessed and lucky I am.

I’m grateful to see the goodness in the world. To watch my adorable baby boy grow. To laugh at the silliness of my very grown up five year old. To hold my husband’s hand as we watch movies or watch our kiddos. Life isn’t so bad. Actually, it’s great.

Here’s hoping you have a wonderful Friday. a fabulous weekend. And you take the time to find the goodness in your life. It’s there. Just stop for a moment and look.

More CHA Goodies

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Jennifer and I were just talking about our CHA schedule and we will be attending an open house for Glitz Design Saturday evening. In anticipation of the event, I checked out their blog and some of the new releases they have planned for CHA.

I’m officially in love … with their Kismet collection (photo below). I love that I could use this line for either family projects, ones for my daughter or even my son. It’s adorable and oh so versatile.

Something else I’m excited about is the new Core Impressions/Core-dinations cardstock Cosmo Cricket will be releasing at CHA (photo below). I’m a bit of a cardstock junkie. I like it even more than patterned paper and tend to horde it! Each pack includes 4 embossed patterns and 5 different colors. I can’t wait to take some sand paper to these papers.

Finally, I’m hoping to get my hands on some of the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze (photo below) and Glimmer Glam. Have you seen the new, exclusive Heidi Swapp Glimmer Mists? Viva Pink and Silver Sugar are my favorite colors from Heidi’s new line with Tattered Angels. I have a girl crush on Heidi Swapp. Ever since I met her at Creative Escape 2009, I think she’s beyond cool. I mean come on  .. she’s way talented, the mother of 5 kiddos and bops around the world promoting her brand … what’s not to like?  I can’t wait to see all the Tattered Angels’ goodies next week and geek out while Miss Heidi demos new products at their booth!

I think that about wraps up my CHA wish list … for today. Jennfer and I have been on the phone about 10 times today (I’m out of the country until Friday), talking about all the  cool things we want to see, try and buy. Check back for more updates in the days to come. And don’t forget to apply for our design team (see previous post). And lastely, I have a super cool, awesome deal for new subscribers, which will posted this weekend. Come back on Saturday … you’ll want to partake. Happy Thursday to you!

CHA 2010 Here We Come!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Next week is CHA. The very cool Craft and Hobby Association’s Winter Convention and Trade Show. This is where are ll the manufacturers come to release their latest products and retailers like us buy goodies for the coming year.

It’s beyond huge. It’s not limited to scrapbooking, and includes every craft corner of the world.

So as CHA gets closer, different manufactures have started showing little sneak peeks of what they will be releasing next week. I am so excited to see all these goodies in person. I have actually never been to CHA. Jennifer has been, since she does pretty much all of Crazy Daisy’s buying. It will be a whole new experience for me to join the shopping fun. I’m sure I’m going to want to buy everything!

I have been paying attention to all the sneak peeks, and here are some of things I’m most excited about.

gardengala

One of my favorite new lines comes from Webster Pages. I LOVE their new line, Garden Gala (photo above). They are releasing four new lines at CHA and all of them are to die for. I can’t wait to see them and touch them in person. Samples please?

Teresa Collins is releasing a new line. I love how classy her new line is and I really like how much you can do with the black and white color scheme.

MYB

I really am liking all the new paper Little Yellow Bicycle will be unveiling in 2010. I especially like the Lucky Me collection (photo above). Now that I’m scrapping for a little boy, I have to think outside my pink and floral box! I like the blues and yellows this collection has.

As usual, Crate Paper has lots of yummy goodies in its next release. I love it all. I always do. I’m a huge Crate Paper fan, and it looks like they won’t be disappointing me.

StacyJWhile at CHA Jennifer and I will be taking a very cool class from Stacy Julian. The class, Finish Line Scrapbooking, is geared toward scrapping fast. It’s suppose to change the way we scrap, at least when we want to scrap fast and accomplish a lot. I’m sure excited about meeting Stacy Julian and applying some of her awesome techniques. I have issues with starting projects and then never finishing them …. I have high hopes that this class will help me finish more projects and start chipping away at my very large pile of projects that are “almost” done!

While at CHA, we’ll share as much as time permits. When we’re in our hotel room each night, trying to decided what will make it’s way to your kits for the 2010 …. we’ll give you some peeks at what we love the most.

Have a great Tuesday!

Creative Escape 2010

Jennifer (right) and I, meeting Heidi Swapp

I didn’t mention all that much about Creative Escape 2009 … but Jennifer and I had the opportunity to attend this awesome, amazing, mind-blowing event this last August. We escaped our lives for a few days and were completely immersed in crafting goodness.

Let. Me. Tell. You. It was beyond awesome. I can speak for both us when I say we left Creative Escape filling renewed, rechartged and ready to craft our little hearts out. Every now and then I think you need to refill your inspiration cup. This was definitely an event where we went and our cups were filled beyond our wildest dreams.

teacherHellmuth

They have announced the teachers for Creative Escape 2010 and I so want to go again. All the teachers are super cool and very inspiring, but I’m especially excited about Claudine Hellmuth.

If you haven’t heard of her, pop on over to her blog. She is a collage artist and does some cool work. I have all her books and dream of having even an ounce of her talent. I have tried many of the techniques she shares in her books and have stacks of collages that have been started, but never finished. I’m looking forward to meeting her and soaking up some of her mojo.

Some of the other teachers on the bill, okay all of them, are super cool and well worth making the treck to Arizona for, as well as paying for the event (it’s a little precey, but worth every penny). You have to sign up to be placed in the registration lottery. Starting February 15th they will select at random some 700+ people to attend. I can only hope Jennifer or I get picked again!!!

Note: Photo at the top was edited using Picnik.com … a very cool online photo editing software. Check it out, I’m seriously addicted to it!

A cool web site

Friday, January 15th, 2010

In my attempt to enter the world of digital and/or hybrid scrapbooking, I started looking for an online application I could use to edit my photos and add some simple treatments to them.

I figured it would be easier to use a simple online application in the short term and brush up on Photoshop or Photoshop Elements in the long term. I’m hoping to take some sort of Photoshop class in the near future and am looking forward to a series Ali Edwards has planned for next week on digitial scrapbooking (she mentions the series at the bottom of this post).

I found this site that I’m currently loving … it’s called Picnik. As it says on the homepage of the Web site it’s designed to make photo editing fun – “Picnik makes your photos fabulous with easy to use yet powerful editing tools. Tweak to your heart’s content, then get creative with oodles of effects, fonts, shapes, and frames. It’s fast, easy, and fun.”

The cool part is, it’s free. You can sign up for a paid version of the site, but all of the basic tools and tons of fun goodies are free. I’m testing it out for free right now and will decide if I want to upgrade to the paid version later.

So what can you do on the site? Let me show you. Here is a raw, unedited photo of my sweet baby Cooper. It was taken on a cell phone, so it’s not the very best quality. However, it’s adorable and I’d like to be able to tweak it a little so it could be used for either a scrapbooking page or a blog post.

Here’s the photo after I made some basic fixes to it thanks to Picnik. One of the things I like best about this site is that every time you apply some sort of action (like adjusting the exposure), there is a mini tutorials that pops up on the screen and explains what the action is, why you would make adjustments to it and how you’d make changes.

CooperColorChange

And now here’s the photo after I add some of the cool effects and features. For this particular example, I applied the “holga-ish” effect and then added the museum matte frame. There are all sorts of free effects and frames you can use. There is a Polaroid frame that makes your photo look like it’s, umm, a Polaroid!  Try it out, it’s tons of fun.

CooperFrame

Next up for me … I want to try some of the cool digital items that you can purchase at House of 3. Have you seen Heidi Swapp’s latest endeavor? Her new site, House of 3 offers all sorts of down-loadable goodies that you can either print out and use on a physical scrapbooking page or you can use them digitally. How cool is that?
